Tenuta J. Hofstätter is the only family-operated winery in southern Alto Adige that cultivates vineyards on both sides of the Adige Valley, in southern Trentino, and in Germany’s Mosel wine region.

Family Foradori Hofstätter has made preserving traditions a mission. The traditional local grape varieties Gewürztraminer, Lagrein, and Schiava are cultivated.

Tenuta J. Hofstätter owns the largest Gewürztraminer and Pinot Nero vineyard area in Alto Adige: Kolbenhof and Rechtenthaler Schlossleiten in Tramin as well as Barthenau and Yngram in Mazon. Grapes grow in the very best sites at these locations.

Single-vineyard wines

Tenuta J. Hofstätter is a pioneer of the single-vineyard philosophy. Gewürztraminer from Kolbenhof and Pinot Nero from Mazon were among the first wines in Alto Adige made from historic, classified vineyard parcels.

Paolo Foradori was the first vintner in Alto Adige to label wines according to origins from specific demarcated vineyard parcels. This made him the founder of the Vigna classification.

Nature

Nature must flourish. We cultivate the art of soft pruning, fertilise with cow dung, and abstain from the use of herbicides. We promote soil vitality by sowing green cover in the vineyards.

Weingut Dr. Fischer – Hofstätter: Martin Foradori Hofstätter also lives out his pioneering spirit with his love of Riesling, He is the first Italian vintner to acquire vineyards on the Saar, the ideal terroir for this grape variety.

The diversity of our wines lies in our vineyards. Our vineyard slopes are dispersed on both sides of the Adige Valley. The vines grow at elevations of up to 850 metres. We offer each grape variety a perfectly suited site.
