Riesling is a passion that has been handed down from generation to generation at our wine estate. Martin Foradori Hofstätter, Alto Adige’s uncompromising advocate of single-vineyard terroir philosophy, always had the desire to produce his own Riesling. This dream came true in 2014 when he became the first Italian wine producer to invest in a Riesling wine estate in Germany’s famous Mosel wine region.

Long ago in the year 1969, a “Rheinriesling Auslese” from the J. Hofstätter wine estate was served on the occasion of Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II of England’s visit to Innsbruck. Only recently was the menu for this prestigious reception in the Innsbruck Hofburg rediscovered in old company documents.

The acquisition of the historic “Weingut Dr. Fischer” marks another important milestone for our wine company’s quest to find the best vineyard sites for our wines. The exceedingly steep slopes of the “Ockfener Bockstein” and the “Saarburger Kupp” vineyards on the Saar River offer unique terroir and optimal prerequisites for the cultivation of our Riesling grapes. With our customary quality attentiveness and untiring determination, we now have the fortune to produce Riesling where it undoubtedly finds its ideal habitat.
