The J. Hofstätter estate welcomes visitors from morning into the late hours of the evening.
Its Enoteca, Restaurant, Wine Bar and Gewürztraminer Show Vine Garden are located in an extraordinary location right in the heart of Tramin-Termeno.
Hospitable conviviality has a unique and special address in South Tyrol (Südtirol-Alto Adige)!
Visitors can immerse themselves in the art of viticulture in the J. Hofstätter vine garden. The show garden demonstrates in which conditions vines thrive and how the vintner tends and cares for the vineyard using the historic local variety Gewürztraminer as an example.
It is a peaceful place to simply rest on a bench and enjoy the fragrance of nature. Nurture your soul: feel the warm caress of sunshine and refreshing cool breezes and observe the busy activities of beneficial insects and small animals while surrounded in a spectacular alpine landscape.
The extensive assortment of wines is attractively presented in the historical vaults. Grappa, honey from the estate’s apiculture, and useful accessories for wine enjoyment are also available for purchase. The vaults and their walls are artistically decorated with giant chestnut leaves.
A broad staircase leads visitors outside into the vineyard where vines are trained between posts made from chestnut wood.
The Restaurant and Wine Bar are decorated neither rustic nor minimalist, but pleasantly balanced.
New opening november 2019!
Should the vegetation not provide enough shade on hot summer days, an open pavilion offers protection from too much sun. Colourful wall reliefs artistically depict the local flowers and herbs that grow between the vine rows.
Guests are invited to enjoy the adjoining terrace with a bottle of wine and wine glasses from the Enoteca. The garden offers plenty of opportunity for leisurely enjoyment in the fresh air.
Concrete barrels are not a typical visitor attraction at a winery, but at J. Hofstätter they are not only aesthetically pleasing, they are energy efficient and are advantageous for environmentally friendly production. The equally unusual wine tower next to the late Gothic church steeple, the prominent landmark of Tramin-Termeno, also makes a positive contribution. It employs natural forces, wind, and evaporative cooling for energy efficient wine storage. Wine tastings take place in the top floor, which offers a fabulous panoramic view over the surrounding wine country.
When weather is pleasant, the Show Vine Garden invites visitors to experience wine cultivation and enjoy nature with all the senses. Using the Gewürztraminer variety as an example, the garden tour demonstrates the lifecycle of vines and the vintner’s work throughout the year. Cellar tours with tastings can also be combined with the Gewürztraminer Show Vine Garden: 4 people minimum Duration of the tour is around 1.5 hours Price per person € 12 Tours are not available on Saturday, Sunday, or holidays. All tours should be booked in advance under email@example.com Tours cannot be guaranteed if visitors appear more than 20 minutes late for the arranged appointment.
A full understanding of why and how wine tastes the way it does, is best gained by exploring the vineyard. For this reason we have designed an excursion into three of our best vineyard sites on both sides of the Adige Valley that show the soils, the climatic conditions, and the authentic charm of the South Tyrol (Südtirol-Alto Adige) mountain landscape. Taste wines in their place of origin and experience the unique characteristics of the site and grape variety. After the approximately two-hour tour in an open-topped 4-wheel drive, visitors may wish to round out their experience with tasty regional specialties and J. Hofstätter wines at the winery’s restaurant.
